On February 17, 2024, we celebrated Black History Month at The Apollo Civic Theater. We premiered a documentary film about the history of the Sumner-Ramer Memorial School. Nearly 500 in our community gathered to learn about this cherished school. Former students shared their memories. Our education committee obtained funding from the WV Humanities Council, Macy’s and First United Bank. We spent seven months collaborating on the end product with Shaun Galang of Cedarmeade Studios. We are proud to share our work with you.
